Welcome Imperial Agents!
So, you’re ready to join the Dark Side.
Death Star Village (DSV) is a collaborative LEGO environment that highlights all of the areas on the Imperial space station that are just out of view of the camera. These are all of the living spaces—from the mundane to the elaborate— that make everyday living on the deadliest space station in the galaxy a little more enjoyable. After all, stormtroopers need to eat, shop, stay fit, and hang out, too!
You don’t need to be an experienced “Star Wars builder” to participate in DSV. All it takes is a little creativity and tongue-in-cheek humor. A taun-taun burger shop? A Jawa trading post? A post office? Day spa? Food cart pod! What you put into your DSV module is entirely up to you.
How Can I Join the DSV Collab?
Building a DSV module is easy, with simple requirements. There is no one way to build a DSV module. Every module is unique, and that’s what makes this collab so accessible and entertaining. Here are the general guidelines for building a DSV module:
- Start with a standard 32×32 baseplate as your floor.
You can build directly on the plate, or build it up inside. You can also use a combination of regular plates, or art/technic plates to form a 32×32 floor. You should keep your entire build within the 32×32 margin, otherwise it may not link properly with neighboring modules. - Build two back walls that are 16 bricks high.
This can vary by about a plate or two, but try to keep it within this range. You should attempt to give your walls somewhat of an armored, Death Star-like appearance to keep with the Star Wars aesthetic. Grays and blacks, with a little greebling is encouraged, but creative use of color is acceptable as well. - The interior space is entirely up to your own creativity.
Being Star Wars, there should be plenty of stormtroopers, bounty hunters, and other Imperial agents in your space. But if Rocket and Groot, Jack Sparrow, or Wyldstyle make an appearance, all the better. Easter eggs are highly encouraged!
You can refer to the diagram below for the general configuration.

If you need visual references, you can visit Death Star Village on Instagram to see how others have built their modules. You will see there is no one way, and all are unique and creative.
Advanced
You are welcome to incorporate lighting or motion features into your DSV module, but this is not required. If you choose to do so, your wiring and/or batteries must be stowed behind your back walls. If your module requires a motorized base, it must be built on a platform 16 bricks high in order for your module to fit into the display arrangement.
Where is Death Star Village Displayed?
DSV is a traveling, multi-event collab. It makes regular appearances at many of the Portland-area LEGO and fan conventions, including Bricks Cascade, Rose City Comic Con, Fan Expo, and more. As PortLUG members cross the galaxy to other AFOL events, DSV has also made appearances at Brickslopes in Salt Lake City, BrickCentric in Los Angeles, and BrickCon in Seattle.
We ask all DSV participants to keep their modules intact and available for multiple showings. It is our goal to grow DSV at every event with new modules and new participants. And, of course, you’re welcome to build more than one! If you have built a DSV module and are ready to retire it, please inform a DSV lead so it can be removed from the list and the idea can be reimagined by someone else.
What has already been built for DSV?

You should also reach out to a DSV Lead to share your idea and express your interest in joining the collab.
