PortLUG Member Collabs
Explore LEGO collaborations organized by members of the PortLUG community and learn how to get involved. Examples, details, and contact information are below.
Death Star Village (DSV)

This increasingly popular collab takes a tongue-in-cheek look at all of the rooms of the Imperial Death Star space station that are just off camera. The idea is to showcase all the everyday living spaces of the Imperial army, from the mundane to the exotic. DSV module specs are simple, requiring just one 32 x 32 baseplate as a base, with two 16-brick-high walls making up the back. Inquire with the collab lead to suggest your DSV module idea to ensure that it hasn’t already been done, or claimed, by someone else.
Moonbase Cascadia

This space-themed, Bricks Cascade collab envisions a facility on Luna where minifigures live, work, and have fun in an intergalactic habitat. Modules are encouraged to show some kind of space-based action and/or storytelling, with extra props for Portland-themed vibes. Moonbase modules are built on MILS baseplates, with specific guidelines for connecting portals. No preclearance required to join, but consult the online guide for proper base and portal connection requirements.

The Old West

This creative collab is a large-scale diorama featuring a town and train scene based on traditional frontier architecture and scenery, including a standard, 6-wide LEGO train on 9V track. Sections of the Old West diorama are built on MILS baseplates to all connect together. Before building, consult with the collab lead for any suggestions and/or instructions to ensure your build fits into the larger diorama. The Old West is often displayed at Bricks Cascade and BrickCon.
Dream Bunkers

The original concept of Dream Bunkers imagined underground living spaces following the apocalypse. The concept has evolved—and expanded—to showcase any design of dream living space. The Dream Bunkers wall is often a favorite at the Bricks Cascade AFOL convention. Anyone is welcome to build a Dream Bunker to any theme, style or design, but each must be constructed to very specific dimensions in order for everyone’s Bunkers to fit together into one massive showcase.

Portals

A Portal is a door to another space, a threshold to be crossed. Beyond is the unknown. Across the world in countries every door is unique, a piece of art, a thing of craft work. Can you create your own Portal? Portals are displayed at Bricks Cascade in the Architecture theme, and everyone is invited to join. There are specific dimensions required in order for Portals to be displayed together. Consult the Portals Instruction Booklet, or contact the collab lead, for more information.
Great Ball Contraption (GBC)
Meow Gallery: The gallery is empty.
The Great Ball Contraption is a series of interconnected, motorized modules that move LEGO balls through a circuit. There are specific size dimensions and limitations in order for modules to work together, and for space considerations. A detailed builder’s guide can be found on the GBC Wiki. Before building, contact the collab lead for additional information. GBC is often displayed at Bricks Cascade, many of PortLUG’s larger display events, and at various AFOL conventions.
Minilandia Parade
A Classic tradition, the Minilandia Parade celebrates all the different ways LEGO minifigures get around! Bikes, skateboards, 4-wide cars, food carts, parade floats—if you can put it on wheels (at Classic scale), you can join the celebration. This fun collab recognizes and celebrates the skill and creativity of smaller builds—and the sillier the better! Builds are encouraged (but not required) to incorporate Classic themes (defined as from 1998 and earlier). Builds are not limited to Classic parts and may use modern parts.
Port of Brickport
The port authority of Brick City, the Port of Brickport oversees marine activities related to industrial, commercial, and recreational development. This large, collaborative build is your opportunity to contribute to a thriving LEGO seaport enviornment. Guidelines are posted online, including the connection points for various modules for structures. Watercraft and other floating vehicles are more flexible. Builds can be playful, but should generally fit into a LEGO City aesthetic. Before building, consult with the collab lead for any instructions.
